Studio Zoo Whitespace 2019
Studio Zoo is a body of work reflecting my diverse response as an artist, to a range of tools and media. My passion for figure and animal themes continues to inspire the subject matter.
The porcelain sculptures are individually hand built, fired and painted in enamel. Mostly biomorphic, they conjure up the idea of pets, to be petted!
The drawings and water-colours are inspired by vintage images of people in costume. When I paint, I love the watery brush experience. When I draw, I love to create detailed textures with lead pencil.
I have included three mask-themed bronzes from an earlier body of work. They are created in wax, and cast in bronze. I have painted the masks on the small figures with enamel modeling paint.
